We experienced a loss this past August that sent ripples of sadness throughout our community. We began working with a mother of 7 due with twins in the early spring. During this time she showed strength and fortitude that we didn’t know existed. One of her greatest gifts to us was her sense of humor. Angela called Everyday Miracles looking for help with clothing for her children. When asked how she would care for 9 children on her own she simply stated “Apparently God thinks I have too much time on my hands!” Angela was the first in her family of origin to graduate from High School. She took the city bus, pregnant with twins along with her 7 children to drop them off at daycare and then on to her Adult Education classes. Everyday Miracles celebrated with her and the Children in June as she proudly received her diploma. Oh, the gift she gave her kids as they proudly watched their Mama up on stage. Angela passed away due to birth complications after giving birth
to twin Boys. Her doula declined payment for her work with Angela
asking that a fund be set up to assist mothers The ANGELa’s Fund seeks funds to develop a small individual
grant program to provide low-income, single, expectant mothers with
a cash grant for meeting basic needs associated with food and supplies
for babies and children. Grants will be distributed on a one time
per year basis and in the range of $10.00 to $100.00 when the appropriate
financial necessity has been established. Families receiving grants
from Angela’s Fund will be enrolled in WIC and referred to
Healthy Start and community based resources for further support.
All donations are tax deductible.
