How many births have you attended as a doula?
Can you commit to replying to emails within 48 hours?
While we understand there are situations where this is not possible (for example when you are at a birth), a reply within 48 hours is expected of our doulas.
How did you first hear of Everyday Miracles?
Please describe what draws you to birth work.
Mission: Everyday Miracles is committed to reducing disparities and improving birth for those most at risk for poor outcomes. This is at the core of what we do and what we value as an organization. We would appreciate you taking the time to be especially intentional and thoughtful as you share your thoughts on the relationship between birth work, equity and social justice. In your response, make sure to address your thoughts on 1) the structural and systemic issues that affect birth outcomes for people of color disproportionately 2) the role of cultural humility, and 3) how these factors will inform your work as a birth doula.
Discuss how you anticipate doula work in the non-profit realm may differ than working with private clients.
Discuss the role of self-care in birth work, and what you personally do for self care.
Doula work can be incredibly demanding. Our Core Program requires doulas to have the availability to be on call for individual clients. Discuss how you have made/will make the demands and unpredictable schedule of birth work fit into the larger picture of your professional and personal life.
We are a busy nonprofit with a high volume of clients, and limited administrative staff. Doulas interested in working with us should be organized, reliable and responsive; both with clients and with EM. Committing to return email or text messages in a timely manner, keeping accurate records and submitting paperwork on time are essential parts of working with Everyday Miracles. Discuss your approach to organization, and what reliability means to you.
Please include the FULL NAME, email address and phone number of at least two references you are acquainted with professionally (does not have to be birth work if this is not an option), as well as what your connection with them is.
