“As long as I can remember it has been my dream to be part of birth. I consider it to be an honor to be present at the birth of a new being and I treat each birth with that honor and respect. Through our work with Everyday Miracles I am continually reminded of why we do this work. Amazing things can happen if we just support one another and show each other kindness. It is my hope for each new parent and their child that every birth is full of joy and that each child is brought into this world in a loving, gentle, peaceful way. Peace on Earth begins at birth.”

Shyla Earl

Shyla manages the car seat program, the internship and volunteer programs, and acts as the Everyday Miracles liaison on The Minnesota Better Birth Coalition, a group advocating for legislation to support doula care and healthy birth outcomes in Minnesota. A background in gender studies, her professional experience also includes training as a birth doula, and working with low-income families to achieve safe and healthy housing. Shyla is currently working on her Master's Degree in Holistic Health.  She believes that healthy families are the basis of healthy societies and that all women and their families deserve to be supported. In addition to work and school, Shyla also practices Traditional Western Herbalism, providing consults and sustainable plant-based remedies. This practice not only allows her to fill her passion for gentle healing, but also allows her time to be in and connect with the natural world which supports us all. Shyla settled back into life in South Minneapolis after several years of exploring the Pacific Northwest and Maui, Hawaii. She is happy to be home and involved in the growth of her community.
