The Everyday Miracles leadership team guides the operations, special projects, and finances of the organization. Each person believes strongly in the mission of Everyday Miracles, and in empowering and supporting birthing people throughout their pregnancies and beyond.

Melissa Gutierrez Nelson

Melissa is the Doula and Education Coordinator at Everyday Miracles. Her job includes direct support of doulas and clients, facilitating the doula matching process, and collaborating with referring organizations. She also coordinates classes and childbirth education. Prior to working in the birth community, Melissa worked in marketing and public relations. A group fitness instructor and yoga teacher with a focus on the pregnancy year, Melissa is also a Certified Birth Doula and Calm Birth Meditation Teacher. She has a passion for supporting families throughout pregnancy, birth and parenthood. This passion, along with an unwavering belief in the power of compassion in building strong communities and families, drives her commitment to the work we do at Everyday Miracles. A mother of high school and college-age kids, Melissa has been married to her husband for over twenty years. They live and raise their family in the Northeast Minneapolis area

Abby Susick

Abby is responsible for facilitating all aspects of our car seat and breast pump fulfillment programs. She works with clients, collaborates with insurance providers, and oversees our car seat technicians. Prior to working at Everyday Miracles, Abby worked with Alzheimer's and hospice patients. Listening to their life stories and holding space for them during a vulnerable time in their lives was an honor, and ultimately served as inspiration to spend her life and work in a job that involved supporting and caring for people's needs. The daughter of a doula, Abby grew up believing in the power of birth and knowing the importance of kindness and community for parents and families. Now a mother herself to Casey, born in 2016, she loves spending time with her own family and is thrilled to be part of the Everyday Miracles team.

Hildie Hoeschen

OFFICE COORDINATOR & SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR | EMAIL HILDIE >

Hildie is Everyday Miracles’ Office Coordinator and Social Media Director. She is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including coordinating our intern program and managing the organization's social media accounts. She recently graduated in 2017 with her Bachelor's in sociology, during which she focused her studies on medical sociology and anthropology and wrote her senior thesis on women's lived experiences of midwifery care across different nations. After a year abroad serving as an English Teaching Assistant in northern Spain, she returned to the Twin Cities in 2018 and began working as a volunteer doula intern with Everyday Miracles. Now applying to graduate nursing programs, she plans to train as a Certified Nurse Midwife and care for women and families in underserved communities, especially those who are young and/or Spanish-speaking. She continues to serve as a backup for other Everyday Miracles doulas while living with her family in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood of St. Paul and working part-time at their independently owned pharmacy.
